Many of us attended professional conferences since the last issue went to press. The "summer season" of conferences was intense in North America, bouncing from one coast to the other and in this issue we bring to you conference reports from clearly around the globe:

We also have a number of terrific articles among our features in this issue. Brian Hancock introduces the "Humanities data grid"; Buffy McDonald writes about "Saving our digital heritage," and we have an interview with one of our foreign editors, Esharenana Adomi, who covers Africa for us. He introduces us to prospective contributors and occasionally writes columns and articles himself based on his research at the Delta State University School of Information Science in Nigeria. Jeffrey Beall explores some thorny issues surrounding the "Death of Dublin Core." His "obituary" for this metadata standard suggests other alternatives for use.

Technology is changing the way that students study, learn and absorb information. LHTN will continue to promote articles on the information technologies that contribute to that on topics of wireless Internet, touch sensitive screens, improved semiconductors and smarter microprocessors. There are many new challenges, trends and pieces of technology that are being introduced as part of the library landscape for retrieval, processing, archiving, preserving, interacting, and entertaining that we want to cover and explore.

We continue to solicit your contributions to this publication and are committed to maintaining its global content. We hope that you will consider submitting, responding, interviewing, observing, reviewing, or offering some suggestions for what you want included in future issues. As you can see we have already begun planning for the next issue and look forward to bringing you interesting and meaningful content in each issue.
