International Conference on Environmental Science and Technology 2007 (ICEST2007)6-9 August 2007, Houston, Texas, USA

The International Conference on Environmental Science and Technology 2007 will be held on 6-9 August 2007 in Houston, Texas, USA. It is sponsored and organized by the American Academy of Sciences. The technical program is expected to consist of about 600 platform and poster presentations.

The objective of Conference will be to provide a major interdisciplinary forum for presenting new approaches from relevant areas of environmental research, to foster integration of the latest developments into engineering applications, and to facilitate technology transfer from well-tested ideas into practical products and remedial processes. Researchers, engineers, regulatory agents, policy makers, consultants, and vendors will all benefit from the opportunity to exchange information on recent research trends, to examine ongoing research programs, and to investigate world-wide public and regulatory acceptance of environmental protection and remediation technologies.

The conference will host presentations on a wide range of environmental problems. Fifteen major topics are listed in the preliminary conference program. These active areas of research are:

  1. 1.

    Water pollution and water quality control;

2nd ALTER-NET Summer School1-13 September 2007, Peyresq, France

The ALTER-Net Summer School 2007 “Trends in Biodiversity: European Ecosystems and Policy” (1-13 September 2007, Peyresq, France) is now open for applications! The summer school will be held at Peyresq, Alpes de Haute-Provence, France and is administered by the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), Germany.

The summer school is a unique opportunity to explore this important issue with 32 like-minded post-graduate students and young scientists mostly from Europe. The ALTER-Net Summer School will contribute to durable integration and spread of excellence within and beyond the network, with a view to promote interdisciplinary approaches. No tuition costs are charged. 100 per cent of housing and meal costs are supported for all the participants. Travel costs must be covered by the participants. Applications are solicited from graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in disciplines working on global change or vulnerability assessments from EU or associated countries. European Symposium and Exhibition on Clean Vehicles7-9 November 2007, Stockholm, Sweden

The symposium and exhibition creates a meeting point and marketplace where manufacturers and other promoters of clean vehicles and renewable fuels can meet decision-makers and potential customers.

The symposium and the exhibition will provide a good chance for all actors active in the development of cleaner vehicles and cleaner fuels to meet. These are:

  • Manufacturers of clean vehicles and renewable fuels;

  • Buyers and users of clean vehicles from public and private sectors;

  • Decision makers of green solutions and infrastructure; and

  • Companies operating within the fields of environment and energy.

The symposium as well as the exhibition have been very appreciated by the delegates and the media since its start in 2004. As the understanding and the awareness of the need for sustainable transport systems in increasing rapidly, it is anticipated that “Clean Vehicles and Fuels 2007” will be a key event for everyone interested in clean vehicles and renewable fuels.
