Greening Government 2013: Conference and Exhibition, The Brewery Conference Centre, London, UK, 10 September 2013

Govtoday is hosting the Greening Government 2013 Conference and Exhibition “Delivering change, promoting excellence”. “Delivering change, promoting excellence” continues Govtoday's series of events from Securing the Future. It is their fifth Annual National Conference examining the progress by Central Government in promoting and achieving measures that incorporate sustainable development to deliver a 34 per cent reduction in emissions by 2020, and 80 per cent by 2050. The Government's aim was to lead this agenda by example, with the reform of operations and procurement through a “step change in leadership, efficiency, transparency and accountability”. Africa Climate Conference 2013 (ACC-2013), Arusha, Tanzania, 15-18 October 2013

The Africa Climate Conference 2013 (ACC-2013), taking place on October 15-18 2013 in Arusha, Tanzania, is an initiative of the African Policy Climate Centre (ACPC) and the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) to bring researchers, practitioners and users in the field of African climate together to share knowledge and accelerate the harnessing of climate science to the service of decision makers and communities in Africa.

World Symposium on Sustainable Development at Universities (WSSD-U-2014), Doha, Qatar, 28-30 January 2014

The World Symposium on Sustainable Development at Universities (WSSD-U-2014), follows on the success of WSSD-U-2012 held in Rio de Janeiro on 5-6 June 2012. The aims of the event are:

  1. 1.

    to provide universities all round the world with an opportunity to display and present their works (i.e. curriculum innovation, research, activities, practical projects) as they relate to education for sustainable development at university level;

  2. 2.

    to foster the exchange of information, ideas and experiences acquired in the execution of projects, from successful initiatives and good practice;

  3. 3.

    to discuss methodological approaches and projects which aim to integrate the topic of sustainable development in the curriculum of universities; and

  4. 4.

    to network the participants and provide a platform so they can explore possibilities for cooperation.

Last but not least, a further aim of the event will be to document and disseminate the wealth of experiences available today. To this purpose, the book “Transformative approaches to sustainable development across disciplines” will be published, with all accepted papers. This will be a further volume of the award-winning book series “Environmental education, communication and sustainability” (Peter Lang Scientific Publishers), which since its creation in 1998 has become the world's longest running book series on education and communication on sustainable development. IWA Regional Symposium on Water, Wastewater and Environment: Traditions and Culture, Patras, Greece, 22-24 March 2014

The symposium will take place in the Conference and Cultural Centre which is situated on the campus of the University of Patras. The symposium themes are:

  • ancient and traditional methods, practices, and techniques of water and wastewater resource management in ancient civilizations;

  • Historical development of urban water supplies (e.g. cisterns, aqueducts, qanats and wells)

  • urban water use in ancient civilizations;

  • the evolution of urban wastewater and storm water management practices and technologies through the centuries;

  • history of water and climatic changes and/or variability;

  • cultural heritage in river basins;

  • the evolution of sanitation and water born diseases;

  • ancient influences on modern water and wastewater technologies;

  • the cultural and socio-economic role of water and wastewater in ancient civilizations;

  • the history of irrigation; and

  • environmental history.

International Sustainability Congress, Copenhagen, Denmark, 22-24 October 2014
