The Numerical Algorithms Group Ltd (NAG) have ported the Fastflo numerical simulation software package, previously available only on Windows 95/NT systems, to a range of UNIX platforms.

Fastflo is a flexible 3D finite element software package designed for numerical simulation and rapid prototyping applications in engineering, manufacturing, research and teaching. A wide range of partial differential equation (PDE) models can be easily specified and solution algorithms designed. This flexibility provides users with a general purpose PDE package with a strong problem-solving capability.

In Fastflo, users spend less time writing programs and more time modelling processes and designing efficient algorithms, saving months of development time. It solves geometrically complex 3D problems, and has capabilities beyond the fixed menus offered by other commercial packages. It comes complete with mesh generation and postprocessing facilities, as well as interfaces to commercially available pre- and postprocessors.

Fastflo has been developed by CSIRO, Australia's largest research organisation, and is distributed worldwide, except in Australia and New Zealand, by NAG. Further information and a free 30 day trial of the software is available at: http://www.nag.co.uk/simulation.html
