Recent developments in green and sustainable supply chains

This special issue contains six papers presented at the First Annual Kent State International Symposium on Green Supply Chains, held in Canton, Ohio in July 2010.

The symposium participants were multi-national and multi-disciplinary with authors and attendees from the USA, Canada, and The Netherlands. The six papers presented in this issue were selected from 24 papers which were read at the symposium. Papers selected for this special issue were reviewed by at least two anonymous referees and went through multiple rounds of revision. The special edition offers a rich tapestry of multiple perspectives and methods, both qualitative and quantitative. Readers will find it particularly promising to gain research perspectives converging on the theme of greening a distributed and global supply chain. The theme attests to the growing importance of green as an organizational and social imperative intersecting various avenues of macroeconomic and organizational decision making. Table I provides a summary of the key features of these papers.
