Soup! The New Covent Garden Soup company has revealed plans to lauch a series of soup bars to be known as Soup. The bars will serve a selection of soups from the company’s retail range as well as fresh breads, salads, pastries and a range of coffees and juices. The menu will change frequently with the seasons. The concept is being tested at the company’s first site in Hammersmith and a further site has already been confirmed in the Millennium Dome.

The company has been taking mobile soup kitchens to shows and exhibitions for many years. They introduced soup kiosks at Victoria and Euston stations and have worked with caterers to develop their branded outlets in airports, bars and in-house restaurants. The UK food service sector as a whole is very dynamic and worth around £19 million a year accounting for 30 per cent of the household budget. The New Covent Garden Soup Company produces a range of 26 different fresh soups, ranging from wild mushroom to Californian olive and tomato. The retail market for fresh soups is worth approximately £60 million.
