Nestlé’s probiotics

Nestlé have launched a new range of production which they claim will help maintain the body’s natural balance. The range consists of two varieties of yogurt-style dessert – a set vanilla and a stirred vanilla style with a peach fruit centre. These products contain Lactobacillus johnsonii which has been selected for its ability to develop and maintain the natural balance of the intestinal flora. This organism was isolated several years ago by the Nestlé Research Centre in Lausanne. It survives the gastric acid barrier in the stomach and, Nestlé claim, stimulates the body’s immune system, thus aiding the body’s natural defences in its fight to maintain health and wellbeing.
