New Seafish education service for teachers
New Seafish education service for teachers
Seafish have introduced a new service for teachers to encourage the use of fish and to show that fish is easy to cook and delicious to eat. A pilot seminar was held for teachers. Some 76 per cent said they found the experience useful and 95 per cent said they would feel confident about including fish in their lessons after attending the seminar. Seafish Food and Nutrition Advisers will host sessions for groups of teachers to show how to use more fish in the classroom by linking it to many parts of the curriculum and how to enliven fish cookery for teenage pupils. Each teacher who attends is presented with a voucher to spend on fish for use in lessons. To arrange a seminar for teachers contact Yvonne Coull at the Sea Fish Authority on 0131 558 3331. For further information contact Julie Edgar, Seafish Consumer PR at the same number. The introduction of this free service complements Seafish's existing work in the education sector which includes teachers' packs for primary and secondary school pupils, a video and a project pack on new product development which uses a real case study from a fish processing company.
