Soy and health

The International Conference on Soy and Health 2002 was held at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London on 30-31 May. The theme of the conference was clinical evidence and dietetic application of soya in the diet.

The scientific program was divided into a number of sections:

  • soy and heart disease;

  • new products and technologies;

  • isoflavone metabolism;

  • soy and cancer;

  • hormonal effects;

  • renal disease and bone;

  • soy proteases inhibitors, saponins and sterols;

  • new products and technology;

  • cognitive function;

  • safety issues;

  • health claims and dietary applications.

Besides the scientific presentations there were trade stands on soy products and related subjects. Additionally there were poster presentations on soy and health.
