Local Authority Caterers Association (LACA) Annual Conference

Local Authority Caterers Association (LACA) Annual Conference

LACA is the organisation to which many catering managers who are involved in community catering on behalf of local authorities belong. The conference was held in Blackpool at the Winter Gardens from 4-5 July. The theme of the conference was "inspiration for innovation".

Among the topics debated was one on "is the two-course school lunch dead?". An alternative viewpoint on catering for school meals was provided by the keynote speaker Marcia Smith from the American Food Service Association.

This association was established in 1946 to provide education and training and to set standards on all types of information related to nutrition and schoolchildren.

The conference also included a large trade stand exhibition from a range of commercial companies and organisations.
