The Agency's Web site has been shortlisted for three categories in two national Internet Awards. In the Government Internet Forum awards due to be announced in mid-July, the site, www.food.gov.uk has been shortlisted for Best Corporate Site and Best Interactive Tools. The Agency's site was described by the Forum as being well implemented and focused with "engaging, practical and user-friendly online magazine style". In the New Statesman New Media Awards 2003, the site is a finalist in the "On the move" category. The site was nominated because of its e-Government initiatives, including Board Meeting and Citizens' Jury Webcasts and its Short Message Service, which sends text alerts to almost 900 subscribers each time a food hazard warning is issued.
