Food for Life
Food for Life is the Soil Association's award-winning programme to transform school meals and food culture in schools. Food for Life encourages children, parents, catering staff, governors, head teachers and producers to fully engage in changes to food provision.
Caterers must work towards specific targets of 75 per cent unprocessed ingredients, at least 50 per cent locally sourced ingredients, and at least 30 per cent certified organic food in all meals produced. The programme also encourages better classroom education on food, cooking, nutrition and health and ensuring that all children visit a farm at least once during their time at school.
