David Pearce Snyder, Consulting Futurist, began his career in forecasting as a statistical clerk at the US Census Bureau in 1959. In 1969, he co-authored pioneering Delphi research on societal decision making - Studies in the Quality of Life - while at the RAND Corporation. David returned to Federal Service as Chief of Information Systems with the US Internal Revenue Service (1971-1975), and as the IRS' Senior Planning Officer for Long Range Forecasting (1975-1982). For the past 20 years, Mr Snyder has consulted extensively with major corporations and government agencies worldwide, and has also served as a Contributing Editor of The Futurist. With his colleague, Dr Gregg Edwards, David has written two books, Future Forces (1984) and American in the 1990s (1992). When not consulting, editing or writing, David can generally be found "on the road", speaking to business, professional and technical audiences about the trends that will shape their future.
Greg Edwards, Consulting Futurist. This series of articles with David Snyder started in 1973, when they offered the opening course for the First General Assembly of the World Future Society, preparing a large book that the two days helped introduce - Futurics, The State of the Arts. The content owed much to his immersive learning of education and social science at the National Science Foundation developing/monitoring grants for interdisciplinary science, national curriculum projects and technology. Gregg Edwards had been a Senior Systems Engineer in space communications, taught physics/administered at various European/US universities. The ideas got Kenneth Boulding to put him up for an honorary DSc. After NSF and a stint at the Brookings, he divided his time between think-tanking, helping run a high-tech systems integration firm, and much grass-roots innovating in local services, regional and national planning ... now on five boards. Gregg worked with neighborhood groups to multinationals around the world to use futurist tools to see and seize chances for change.
Christopher L. Folsam has been a Research Associate with The Snyder Family Enterprise since 1989. He is currently on a sabbatical in Paraguay, working with the NGO ProJoven on a program for at-risk youth.
