are the recipients of the journal's Outstanding Paper Award for Excellence for their paper

"Occupational futures? Divesting real estate and corporate PFI"

which appeared in the Property Management Vol. 20 No. 1, 2002

Gaye Pottinger BSc (Est Man) FRICS worked for 13 years in local government and for four years advised at corporate level on property strategy and major development transactions. Since joining the College of Estate Management in 1994 she has undertaken and supported major research projects covering property services outsourcing, corporate PFI, international investment and project management. Her particular focus in recent years has been on residential valuation and investment, including projects on leasehold reform, the Right to Buy (both for government), fair rents and residential investment in sustainable communities. She has provided research advise to the Property Services National Training Organisation (PSNTO) and worked on several government sponsored projects covering skills and education in the property services sector. As an active RICS member she helped establish and is a volunteer director of 3CPD Ltd, a not for profit company which runs seminars locally for property professionals.

Dr Tim Dixon is Director of Research at The College of Estate Management in Reading. He is a chartered surveyor, member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Property Investment and Finance and Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management and is a member of IPF, SPR, ILT and NACORE in the UK, and ICSC, ARES and ULI in the USA. He is also an online topic expert at the Web site, Property Bull. He has written widely on the subject of IT applications in property and has acted as property adviser to the National Audit Office. He is interested in the impact of information technology on the built environment and he is currently working with his team on major funded research projects concerned with the impact of new technology on real estate and property markets. He has worked on collaborative research projects with UK and overseas academics and practitioners. Recently, he co-led a successful bid to EPSRC for a £1.8m four-year programme of research into brownfield issues in which The College is a lead partner.

Andrew Marston graduated in Geography from the University of Durham in 1997, and the following year completed a Masters in Land Economy degree at the University of Aberdeen. In June 1999 he joined the Research Department at The College of Estate Management.

Since joining the College, Andrew has been involved in research on corporate real estate solutions, the impact of e-commerce on commercial property markets, residential leasehold reform, international property investment in the UK and the valuation process for the "Right to Buy'' scheme.

Andrew is Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and is a serving committee member for the Society of Property Researchers He is also Editor of the newsletter for the People's Property Network and is working towards membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
