Digital printing issues for packaging
Digital printing issues for packaging
Keywords Containers, Packaging, Pira, Printing
There are many different printing processes and combinations of technologies that can be used to decorate a container. This presents purchasers of packaging materials with a number of challenges as different techniques provide different image quality attributes, varying degrees of robustness and also have environmental implications. Perhaps most importantly, there are differing costs which alter significantly as product volumes change. Pira International's interim report Decorating a Container digital print cost models for print on demand addresses these issues by providing a cost comparison of different methods.
This new report available exclusively to members of Pira International takes a shampoo bottle as an example, and studies eight different decoration techniques that can be applied. This includes three digital printing methods. The report breaks down the unit costs of digital printing, and looks at the future implications of using digital printing technology in packaging applications.
"Written by our experts in digital printing technology, this report offers valuable guidance for those involved in packaging printing and production" comments Ann Stirling Roberts, director of Packaging at Pira International.
Decorating a Container digital print cost models for print on demand is one of a series of reports produced exclusively for members of Pira International to assist with strategic and operational planning.
