Low cost 9000 series spray guns

Low cost 9000 series spray guns

Keywords: CompAir, Spray deposition, Spraying

CompAir's series 9000 spray gun range includes a standard gun for general use, a high atomisation gun for the automobile industry and an HVLP gun that allows improved standards of quality, price and consumption (Plate 10). Prices range from £80 to £142. CompAir also supply a cleaning system which claims to clean the 9000 Series guns without stripping or resetting, even with two-pack paints.

The series 9000 range can reportedly be used with almost all paints, including water based and high solid/low solvent paints. All the paint passages have anti-corrosion protection to extend the life of the gun and the whole range is available with either syphon or gravity feed systems.

The HVLP spray gun is designed as a low cost, high quality, high efficiency gun that will allow any size of operation to benefit from HVLP spraying. Its input pressure of 23-36 PSI is believed to be the lowest in the market, as the spray gun's air consumption is 7-9cfm. This gives the user direct cost savings and allows smaller compressors to power more equipment. The gun also has a suction feed which eliminates the need for a pressurised cup. The HVLP gun has a list price of £126 with a gravity feed or £142 with a syphon feed. CompAir is the sole UK supplier.

In addition, CompAir also supplies the Turboclean tool for the 9000 Series guns. This is a nozzle that replaces the air cap, creating a vacuum, which draws solvent through the gun at 1,400 feet per minute. After about 30 seconds the gun is said to be completely clean. Because there is no atomiser the solvent can be reclaimed and reused, with the additional benefit of eliminating solvent inhalation by the user. Turboclean has no moving parts, fits all 9000 series guns and will clean away any paint, including adhesives or two-pack paints. Turboclean is thought to be particularly useful for HVLP users as a gun can be cleaned with no stripping or resetting.
