Zeneca Resins launches new waterborne products

Zeneca Resins has announced that the following new waterborne emulsions have been introduced on the market:

  • NeoCryl XK-37 is said to be a pure acrylic emulsion designed for stain blocking primers and tension free paints. It is reported that, owing to its specific composition, the product does not need active pigments like zinc oxide which are traditionally used in such paints. The typical physical properties of NeoCryl XK-37 are said to be low film-forming temperature and neutral pH to provide low VOC and low odour of the final paint formulation. Additionally, the extremely high flexibility allows the formulator a broad latitude in pigmentation for a range of specific applications. Recommended applications are indoor and outdoor primers for tropical wood, to avoid bleeding of water soluble dyestuffs and tension free wall and ceiling paints resistant to nicotine staining.

  • NeoCryl XK-97 is reported to be a pure acrylic emulsion with a self-cross-linking feature designed for fast drying and fast blocking resistant coatings for exterior wood and industrial joinery products. It is said to be suitable for transparent as well as for opaque systems with excellent elasticity, good blocking and early water resistance even at high coating thickness. Besides the traditional application techniques, NeoCryl XK-97 formulations can reportedly also be applied by so-called "Vakumat" coaters. Zeneca also informs us that, being an ultra fine particle size emulsion, the product shows an almost solvent-based-like "in-can clarity" which is an attractive feature for clear lacquers in DIY applications. They also state that due to the composition of NeoCryl XK-97, the product shows no yellowing and a good adhesion on different substrates like PVC-plastic, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, pre-painted and solvent based wood primers making it very suitable as a universal primer paint.
