Rebis® reports that they have released a major upgrade to the AutoPLANT® Plant Design Workgroup, Rebis' AutoCAD® based plant design and modeling software. Included in this release is a complete revamp of the AutoPLANT structural Workgroup, Rebis' object-oriented 3D steel modeling, detailing, and fabrication applications. This release supports AutoCAD R14, 2000, 2000i, and AutoCAD 2000i based vertical applications such as Autodesk's Architectural Desktop Release 2i.

AutoPLANT Plant Design Workgroup Version 2.0 is said to include several valuable enhancements developed specifically to address the different design requirements in various industries. Rebis has also released a new 2D piping drafting application, AutoPLANT 2D Piping, as part of Plant Design Workgroup V2.0. AutoPLANT 2D Piping is described as a powerful and easy-to-use solution that produces production-quality drawings and runs on top of AutoCAD R14, 2000, and 2000i. The system is said to be designed for rapid layout of 2D piping plans and sections, and utilises the same powerful underlying technology as in Rebis' full-featured AutoPLANT 3D piping design application.

Other enhancements in AutoPLANT Plant Design Workgroup Version 2.0 include an upgraded pipe support library, Autodesk® Architectural Desktop support, additional piping components, new types of equipment. and the addition of new associative and regular equipment primitives. Also included among the enhancements in the Plant Design Workgroup are additional HTML help files, tutorials, and enhancement selection criteria for the OMNI-SERIES and ISOGEN product groups.

The new AutoPLANT Structural Workgroup is based on KIWI Software's 3D PRO-STEEL core technology, providing structural designers and engineers with a 3D steel modeling and detailing tool that is believed to greatly facilitate structural engineering and steel-framed building construction. The license agreement between Rebis and KM Software will provide Rebis with exclusive licensing and distribution rights of the PRO-STEEL 3D technology for the process and power industries worldwide.
