Working together with Vectura Limited, Hosokawa Micron Limited, a major company in Powder and Particle Processing, have developed the latest in high intensity laboratory mixers with dry coating capabilities.

Operating at the University of Bath, Vectura Limited takes an innovative approach to the development of novel powders with tailored properties by investigating equipment used in other industrial areas. It is through this that they have developed a strong relationship with Hosokawa Micron Limited.

The new 1 litre Cyclomix has been developed for use with high value ingredients or where the amount of product available for trial is small. Vectura will use the Cyclomix with process quantities as low as 20 cc in the creation of new generation powders for improved delivery of active ingredients (Plate 1).

Ordered mixing and continuous coating that can reportedly be achieved with the Cyclomix has allowed significant improvement in flow properties and dispersibility.

The Hosokawa Cyclomix is used extensively in the chemical and cosmetics industry for reliable intensive mixing where consistent results of colour intensity and homogeneity are essential. The new 1 litre Cyclomix will, it is believed, prove to be a valuable tool in development of new and existing products.
