Company announces opening of marine coatings test facility
Poseidon Ocean Sciences Inc. announced the opening of the Poseidon Coating Test Center in Fort Pierce, FL, a facility that offers testing services for marine antifouling coatings. The center currently offers static immersion testing, with dynamic testing capabilities planned by mid-2003. The company is a unit of the Poseidon Life Sciences Group, New York. More information is available on the company's Web site, located at www.poseidonsciences.com
Poseidon Ocean Sciences Inc. also announced plans for a one-day workshop, "strategies in the use of nontoxic antifouling additives and accelerated test methods to evaluate the antifouling performance of marine paints," scheduled for April 11 in Pusan, South Korea. The conference will focus on the performance of various natural products used as antifouling additives in marine paints; laboratory test methods used in the screening of novel compounds; and field test systems (static immersion and dynamic tests) that can accelerate the evaluation of new coatings.
Poseidon Ocean Sciences Inc. said that it is developing nontoxic antifouling additives for marine paints. The company also manufactures biochemicals used as in-can preservatives and to prevent the growth of terrestrial fouling organisms on coated surfaces.
