Land infrared has introduced a new range of compact infrared radiation thermometers for economical, easily implemented non contact temperature measurement (Plate 2).

Collectively, the four models in the new CF Series are capable of measuring higher process temperatures from 300 to 2,5000°C, achieving an accuracy of ±0.5 per cent ±1K at an ambient 23°C.

Possible applications include secondary metal processes, such as hardening, forging, soldering and sintering.

The task of aligning the thermometer is simplified by a powerful, built-in LED that projects a red light indicating the location of the temperature measurement spot on the target.

It is also possible for the user to configure key operating parameters from a PC via a serial interface and Land's optional set-up software. This allows a specific temperature measurement span to be selected within the range of the instrument-complete with automatic scaling of the 4 to 20mA output – and permits adjustments to the target emissivity value, response time and peak picker decay rate.

The CF thermometer's versatility is further enhanced by ruggedised accessories designed for industrial conditions, including: cooled and uncooled protection jackets, fixed and adjustable mountings, quick release sleeve, water/air cooled radiation shield and air purge unit.
