One of the world's leading manufacturers and suppliers of sound and vibration products, Brüel and Kjær, is celebrating its 60 year anniversary.
Since its formation in the early years or World War II, Brüel and Kjær has manufactured millions of sound and vibration products and now has more than 1,000 employees, offices in 55 countries and seven accredited calibration centers worldwide. Brüel and Kjær's wide product range is in excess of 1,500 products, including transducers, a full range of hand-held sound level meters, analysers, systems, service products and customised solutions.
The company's commitment to innovation is still as strong as in its early years. For example, many of the instruments used by acousticians and engineers have been augmented or even replaced by PC hardware and software, such as PULSE™, Brüel & Kjær's PC-based multi-analyser.
Brüel & Kjær's desire for engineering excellence in the future is marked by the company's involvement in a variety of international R&D projects such as the EU's friendly aircraft cabin environment (FACE) project that is a 4 year programme involving 30 European companies dedicated to improving aircraft cabin comfort. The company is also involved in the European Commission's SILENCER project focused on dampening aircraft engine noise.
Commenting on the anniversary, Brüel & Kjær's Managing Director, Karl (Kalle) Kristian Hvidt Nielsen said, "Our customers know they can count on us to support them after the sale – not just for a year or two but for decades down the road. The company is still servicing sound measurement equipment it sold in the 1970s."
