Surveyors recorded the highest reading of vendor activity since May 2007 – the month before the introduction of HIPS – whilst the rate of house price rises slowed, according to the RICS UK Housing Market Survey published in April. For the third consecutive month, the new instructions net balance outpaced the new buyer enquiries net balance. New buyer enquiries stabilised in March, and surveyors reported that political uncertainty was pushing vendors to market their property before the impending general election.
