IPC SMEMA Council Electronics Assembly Process Exhibition and Conference (APEXSM) announced the Wednesday keynote will be simulcast live over the Internet.

Jim McElroy, executive director and CEO of National Electronics Manufacturing Initiative (NEMI), will present highlights from the 2000 NEMI Roadmap on Wednesday 17 January, at 8:30a.m. at the San Diego Convention Center.

The NEMI Roadmap identifies key technology and infrastructure requirements that will ensure the competitiveness of North America electronics manufacturing companies over the next decade. It is updated every two years.

The live Webcasting allows audiences all over the world to partake in the APEX event and the unveiling of the 2000 NEMI Roadmap according to IPC Director, Assembly Industry Programs Lisa Griffin.

Immediately preceding the keynote session, EP&P will present its Engineer of the Year Award.

In addition to the keynote session on Wednesday the 17 January, APEX 2001 will feature the Gala Extravaganza from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hyatt Hotel. Live entertainment will be provided by headliner KC and the Sunshine Band, along with casino and virtual reality activities. Qualified attendees from EMS and OEM companies may attend at no charge.

APEX 2001 is being held at the San Diego, Convention Center in San Diego, California on 14-18 January, 2001.
