In the SMT assembly, the printing quality is of extreme importance for the following process steps. Precision and reproducibility have a high priority in the production and therefore the printing process shall be automated as far as possible.
The new stencil printer SP500 from ESSEMTEC offers a fully automatic printing process for a much lower price than inline type printers, which were designed for mass production (Plate 5). The unique batch concept suits perfectly the special requirements of a flexible production with a lot of small and midsize batches.

Cameras search for reference marks on two substrate positions and because the substrate fixation is motorized in all axes, the printing position is automatically adjusted. Like expensive inline printers the SP500 works reproducible, but at much lower cost.
