Article Type: Appointments From: Soldering & Surface Mount Technology, Volume 21, Issue 2

DEK Solar has announced two new key personnel additions to its dynamic team, expanding the company’s capabilities in the fast-growing photovoltaic sector even further. Zhang Jun joins the DEK Solar team in China as Customer Support Engineer, while Jens Katschke (Figure 2) takes the role of Business Development Manager to support DEK’s solar activities in Western Europe.

The new appointments are part of DEK’s development roadmap which focuses on delivering innovation, process support and service in the photovoltaic arena. This extends DEK Solar’s global capacity to respond to the industry’s most demanding requirements.

In the role of Alternative Energy Customer Support Engineer, Zhang Jun brings a wealth of experience and proven expertise to his new position. Having worked with DEK for the past three years as an applied process engineer, his credentials enable him to respond effectively to exacting photovoltaic challenges.

Working with DEK for the past four years, Jens Katschke’s focus has been on SMT applications and semiconductor application projects. He is now strengthening the foundations of the DEK Solar business through enhanced innovation and service, and will apply his field experience to expand the company’s position within Western Europe.

Commenting on the new additions at DEK Solar, DEK’s Alternative Energy Development Manager, Darren Brown, explains: “Our complete PV1200 metallization line has overcome many of the commercial challenges faced by today’s photovoltaic manufacturers – including the reduction of time-to-market to a matter of weeks and substantially reducing conventional line footprint. Our position as a successful global business has driven many of these advances, delivering the capacity to respond and develop ahead of customer requirements. I’m delighted to welcome Zhang and Jens to the team and look forward to their combined experience and expertise enhancing our capacity still further”.

As a circa-$250m global business, DEK is already well-established in the screen printing sector for electronics assembly with 40 years of experience developing platform products used in the thick-film, chip-scale semiconductor and surface mount electronics markets. Both Zhang and Jens have accomplished careers with DEK and are ideally positioned to broaden their proven capabilities to support development of the state-of-the-art PV1200 solar metallization line, and future generations of products and process solutions.
