Dear readers

Thanks for your continuous support of Tourism Review.

This issue contains four papers.

The first paper by Burke et al. examines potential antecedents and consequences of work engagement in a sample of male and female hotel managers employed in Beijing, China. This study contributes to the understanding of work engagement among managers in a large Confucian country in transition to a market economy.

The second paper by Cevat and Zeliha Ilhan Ertuna investigates the impact of news shocks on the growth rate of German and British tourist arrivals in Turkey by comparing, for the first time, non-event-specific sensitivity of national cultures to news shocks and offering practical recommendations for response strategies

The third contribution by Long-Yi Lin and Yeun-Wen Chen discusses the influence of purchase intentions on repurchase decisions, by also examining and highlighting the moderating effects of reference groups and perceived risks. The paper in particular combines theory and practice and verifies the moderating effects of reference groups and perceived risks between purchase intentions and repurchase decisions.

The final paper by J.A. Snyman and M. Saayman gives an insight into the key factors influencing foreign direct investment (FDI) in the South African tourism industry. Understanding of the decision making of foreign investment in the South African industry is provided, not without also highlighting the close relationship between FDI marketing and tourism marketing

We wish you a good and hopefully interesting read.

Kind regards

Thomas Bieger, Christian Laesser
