And to bring a bit of colour to your lives
The Color Marketing Group (CMG), founded in 1962 and based in Alexandria, Virginia, USA, is an international, not-for-profit Association of 1,600 Colour Designers. CMG members forecast "Colour Directions" one to three years in advance for all Consumer/Residential and Contract/Commercial products and services including: Interior/Exterior Home, Transportation, Architectural/Building, Communications/Graphics, Fashion, Action/Recreation, and environments for Office, Health Care, Retail, and Hospitality/Entertainment. The colours to be used in Contract/Commercial industries in 2002 will have a more spiritual, meditative feeling. Lighter land, sea and air-inspired colours emerge with the effects of technology in driving new colour and material integration. The Contract Colour Directions for 2002 are:
- •
Calm Springs. The perfect blue moving from land-based to sea and sky influence.
- •
Satin Sheet. A luminous lighter neutral, complex but not hue-specific.
- •
Desert night. A "dark of night" deep purple that transitions from warm to cold.
- •
Bali. A brighter, clearer, green-blue water colour that's a counter balance to red.
- •
Astro Green. A clean, clear soothing green.
- •
Ready for Red. Purely primary.
- •
Mazenta. A new, fun twist on magenta that leaps from retro into the future.
- •
Berry Good. Orchid with a "mauve-alous" retro flare.
- •
Bashful. A cosmetic fashion-based neutral.
- •
Tangy. An adventurous, daring, fashion-influenced orange that rockets into space.
- •
Mineralite. A combination of wood, mineral, and metal that merges into a brown bronze.
