The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) recently published the results of a nationwide survey investigating the impact of the Working Time Regulations (WTR) on Britain's long hours workers and their views on the Regulations. Following on from a nationally representative survey of people who worked beyond the WTR limit of 48 hours a week, undertaken shortly before the Regulations took effect, the CIPD commissioned interviews with the same people two years on to find out whether the Regulations have made a difference to the hours they work. The survey findings show that the majority is still working more than 48 hours and that only a tiny percentage has reduced their hours as a direct result of the Regulations.
