A new paradigm

A new paradigm

The launch of Zebra Technologies' new ZebraLink real-time connectivity for their market leading barcode label printers means that production and distribution stoppages in remote warehouses, factories and transport offices because of printer problems can be a thing of the past. Being quick to recognise the benefits of this printer technology for barcode applications in a host of industry sectors, Paradigm Technology is now fulfilling orders for ZebraLink-enabled printers, leading with the rugged new, high value for money Z4M. At the same time, the company can upgrade existing networks if the installed printers are from the XiII or XiIII ranges. ZebraLink's intelligent Alert mode can notify a remote user or supervisor, using any email-enabled, wired or wireless device (e.g. pager, phone, hand-held computer), when the printer has run out of media or a printhead has been left open. The WebView function provides for printer and network settings to be checked and/or changed via familiar Web browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator, whether the printer is in sight of the user or in a warehouse on another continent! With all Zebra printers now featuring the new programming language Zebra Basic Interpreter (ZBI), it is possible to integrate and control peripherals, such as barcode readers or weighing scales, to create stand-alone applications that are not dependent on the presence of a PC. ZBI also allows a Zebra printer to emulate a non-Zebra printer without recourse to reprogramming, enabling IT managers to stage the introduction of Zebra printer technology into large networks as budgets dictate.
