| Abstract: | Towards the end of 2003, the Japanese government announced that GDP had grown by 1 percent coupled with a 35 percent increase in the trade surplus. These encouraging figures were attributed to increased demand for Japanese products and for the world’s second largest economy they were encouraging signs indeed. The figures even put Japan ahead of the USA in terms of economic growth. |
