Discusses why management careers stall despite managers having high levels of technical skill and excellent team-leadership skills. Argues that this is because they have made themselves indispensable in their current role by not learning how to delegate and by taking on all tasks personally, even those that are not particularly important. Underlines that these characteristics may make them very hardworking but prevents them from having sufficient time to understand what is important for the organization and their careers within it. Explains how to avoid these traps and to prepare for their next role within the organization, stressing that learning to delegate is the key to this. Advises on how to develop this skill.
