Abstract:

Purpose – To improve the quality of strategy development and implementation in a large or small enterprise.

Design/methodology/approach – Principles extracted from the author ís observation and experience and set out as a checklist for strategy formulation.

Findings – By acting on ten key principles or trends, businesses can reduce risks and take advantage of future market opportunities.

Practical implications – Improve strategy through an ability to anticipate change in the environmental business model.

Originality/value – The article creates a practical approach to allow business strategists to think through the micro application of macro trends.
