Aims and scope

The current literature on maintenance engineering is limited and scattered over a wide range of publications. The Journal of Quality in Maintenance Engineering (JQME) aims to bring together developments in maintenance and quality that are of interest to both practitioners and researchers.

Maintenance engineering is one of the "Cinderellas" of the organizational world, yet it has a crucial role to play in minimizing process variability and sustaining process stability – the essential ingredients of product quality. In todays high-tech, quality driven, competition-orientated business world, opinions have changed about maintenance engineering. Increasingly sophisticated technology demands highly skilled and knowledgeable engineers to ensure it consistently operates to the highest standards, so that product quality is not compromised. JQME keeps you abreast of the latest developments and ensures you keep the pace up - while keeping your costs down.

This exciting journal looks at maintenance engineering from a positive standpoint, and clarifies its recently elevated status as a highly technical, scientific, and complex field. Typical areas examined include:

  • Budget and control
  • Equipment management
  • Maintenance information systems
  • Process capability and maintenance
  • Process monitoring techniques
  • Reliability-based maintenance
  • Replacement and life cycle costs
  • TQM and maintenance

JQME appeals to a large audience, including but not limited to industrial and manufacturing engineers, information specialists, managers and Plant Supervisors.
