Collection highlights

The SociologyPlus collection provides both academics and practitioners an unrivalled depth and variety of relevant content for their research. The highlights below pick out some of the benefits and quality indicators of this collection:

  • Political Power and Social Theory is an annual review, committed to advancing interdisciplinary, critical understanding of the linkages between social relations, political power, and historical development.
  • Research in Social Problems and Public Policy is devoted to the sharpening and reshaping of scientific discourse in the area of inquiry implied by its title, involving the intersection of social problems and public policy. In particular, the series is interested in analyses of the potential failure of public institutions to fulfil their obligations to the broader society.
  • Research in Social Movements, Conflicts and Change was established in 1977 by founding Editor Louis Kriesberg, the Maxwell Professor of Social Conflict Studies at Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. His vision was to create a scholarly publication outlet that would encourage dialogue and cross-fertilization across a number of related but too disconnected research literatures: social movements, conflict resolution, and social and political change. For more than 30 years RSMCC has been publishing peer-reviewed, top-level empirical and theoretical research that has helped define and advance the multiple fields reflected in the series title.
  • Research in the Sociology of Organisations is especially concerned with specifying the unique contributions of sociological theories and research techniques to the analysis of organizations. In addition to publishing high quality original research, each volume aims to foster debate about the value of new theories and research to the growing international community of organizational studies scholars. The series features work by top internationally-known scholars in the field, providing the flexibility to develop more speculative arguments and theoretical claims that challenge, revise and uniquely apply extant theory in ways that are often not possible in more mainline journals.
  • Research in the Sociology of Work. Each volume in this annual series is topically organized to offer in-depth analysis of an issue of current interest in the sociology of work. Recent volumes address current issues including globalization, work and family, deviance in the workplace, marginal employment, employment restructuring, union revitalization, and worker training.
