The International Journal of Health Care Quality Assurance provides a forum for the international exchange of theoretical and practical aspects of quality and management in health care and helps to develop knowledge about continuous improvement and its implementation in health care organisations.
The journal publishes
Topics addressed are clinical, managerial and educational in scope.
Articles that use quantitative and qualitative methods are encouraged.
Existing literature can often appear to lack a coherent and interdisciplinary focus for particular quality concerns in this field. It is clear, however, that in an industry so beleaguered by administrative, staffing and financial difficulties, service quality standards, training and management are notoriously difficult to achieve. The journal offers information and guidance on continuous improvement programmes to raise service and performance standards.
The journal offers a definition of quality within the context of health care, examines managerial and planning methods, discusses the implications of introducing and maintaining quality initiatives, and describes case histories. The journal thus provides a much-needed resource for the health care industry, raising topical issues and providing an overview of current thinking.
