The Journal of Integrated Care aims to be a meeting point for ideas from those studying or evaluating integrated care, from those making or implementing policy, and from those disseminating research findings or applying them in practice. It looks for up-to-date coverage of the latest UK policy, practice and law concerning integrated care, and simultaneously seeks user and carer perspectives. Its mission is to facilitate the evidence-based integration of health, social care and other community services in order to benefit service users, patients, and taxpayers. International experiences and perspectives are also welcomed and appreciated.
 
The editorial board includes key national leaders and thinkers in the field, enabling a unique linkage of research evidence with professional and managerial ‘know how’ in the journal’s content. JICA embraces the idea of “research you can use”.

We positively welcome new writers, and will provide advice and support in preparing papers for publication. Papers will normally be subject to “double blind” reviews, but we also encourage “open” reviewing wherever appropriate.
Papers and topics generally include:

•  getting evidence into policy and practice
•  evaluation of effectiveness and outcomes
•  policy implementation and change management
•  UK and international policy and practice
•  adult and children’s services and their interface
•  organisational and workforce development
•  a regular legal review
•  allied health professions, social work and social care.

JICA is published 6 times per year.

Key Journal Audiences

• managers and practitioners responsible for understanding needs and commissioning, planning and providing care services in all types of agency
• academics studying or evaluating policy for integrated care and its implementation.

Submissions

Papers are ideally accessible, readable, challenging and current. JICA particularly welcomes papers which are wholly or partly:

• about multidisciplinary, interagency approaches and partnership
• relevant to the improvement of quality and outcomes for service users
• rooted in current research wherever possible, but conscious of the barriers to its use
• aware of the principles of effective change management
• concerned with the relationship between policy and practice, with ‘central/local’ and ‘bottom up/top down’ perspectives
• about the evaluation of practice, performance, efficiency and quality
• relevant to the concerns of service users and carers, and sensitive to issues about equal opportunities .

As a guide, articles should be between 2000 and 4500 words in length and should comply with the specifications set out in the author guidelines – follow link above.

Please note that submissions to the Journal of Integrated Care are now made using ScholarOne Manuscripts, the online submission and peer review system. Registration and access is available at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/jica.For more information visit the author guidelines page.

This journal is cautiously experimenting with an “open” review process. Whilst the automated Manuscript Central system will operate to ensure “double-blind” peer reviews, where the identities of authors and reviewers are not revealed, you have the option of allowing the reviewer to know your identity. The reviewer will also be given this option.
