Editorial objectives

China is undergoing a fast transformation from the world’s manufacturer to a leading player in the field of knowledge-based innovation. Published in association with the China Association for Management of Technology (CAMOT), the Journal of Knowledge-based Innovation in China (JKIC) responds to the lack of scholarly publications with a Chinese perspective on this field of study. JKIC publishes critical analyses which are informed by an appreciation of the complexity of the National Innovation System (NIS) and of regional and sectoral diversity. This journal addresses the problems of how to manage the ‘innovation gap’ at both national and regional level by exploring the nature of the Triple Helix model.

The objective of the journal is to publish research that addresses emerging or developed innovative practices in modern China, and how innovation is feeding into the country's rapidly growing knowledge economy.

Scope/Coverage

The Journal of Knowledge-based Innovation in China publishes high quality research papers, viewpoints (including practitioner pieces), conceptual papers, case studies, policy focus papers and literature reviews. Papers accepted for publication are double-blind refereed to ensure academic rigor and integrity.
The main areas addressed by JKIC, which are of great interest to innovative firms and government both in China and abroad, include:

Topicality

JKIC offers readable, informative and incisive research from academic and industry-based practitioners in Europe, America and the Far East, in particular, China. Readers of the journal can see examples of the rapid developments in China and the innovations underlying this process towards modernisation.

The journal’s coverage of state-of-the-art knowledge, in terms of Chinese economics and business, means that it is an essential resource for delivering competitive advantage and strategic planning for those practicing, or even thinking of practicing, business in China.

Key journal audiences

Researchers and practitioners who specialize in all areas of science and technology innovation policy, national and regional innovation systems, business economics,  business strategy, technology management, entrepreneurship and geographical economics will make up the authorship and readership of the journal.

JKIC is now abstracted and indexed in the following services: INSPEC; Cabell's Directory, ProQuest
