Throughout her career, Meredith Farkas has been committed to sharing knowledge and supporting the affordable professional development opportunities for library workers. She was the creative force behind the online course “Five Weeks to a Social Library”. Her blog, “Information wants to be free”, provides valuable information about online learning opportunities. She is also the author of “Social Software in Libraries: Building Collaboration, Communication and Community Online” and was on Library Journal’s Movers and Shakers list in 2006.
The award will be presented at the LITA President's Program on Sunday, July 12, at the ALA Annual Conference in
Library Hi Tech focuses upon computing and technology for the library community. It is international in scope and defines technology in the broadest possible terms to include the full range of tools employed by librarians and their customers.
