Enhancing innovative work behaviour in higher institutions of learning: the role of hopehttps://www.emerald.com/insight/content/doi/10.1108/WJEMSD-07-2020-0073/full/html?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=rss_journalLatestDespite the current dynamism in the education sector that was manifested in new approaches to work that require innovative workforce, little empirical studies have been conducted on how to influence innovativeness in higher education institutions. Moreover, though studies have established a link between hope and innovative work behaviour, no study has established how hope and its two components of agency and pathways influence innovative work behaviour. The purpose of this study is to establish the influence of hope and its two components of agency and pathways on innovative work behaviour. A quantitative cross-sectional research design was adopted in this study. The study employed hierarchical regression to test the hypothesised relationship between hope and its components of agency and pathways on innovative work behaviour using a sample drawn from public universities in Uganda in the two categories of academic and administrative staff. The findings reveal that pathways and agency influence innovative work behaviour. The Findings also revealed that hope significantly influences innovative work behaviour over and above its individual components of agency and pathways. The study was cross-sectional in nature and the findings may not portray a true picture of the relationship between the study variables over time as behaviour is ever changing. Further studies could carry out a longitudinal study to establish the effect established in this study at different time intervals. The results provide a more complex understanding of how hope and its two components of agency and pathways enhance innovative work behaviour. The findings of the study provide insightful direction to managers in public universities in Uganda to consider different avenues of increasing employee hope so as to enhance innovative work behaviour. This can be done through targeted interventions like involving employees in goal setting and setting alternative means to achieve goals. The value of this study is both empirical and theoretical. Empirically, this study is the first to establish the influence of hope and its two components of agency and pathways on innovative work behaviour in Uganda’s university setting. Theoretically, the study extends veracity of the conservation of resources theory (COR) by clarifying those employees who possess the psychological characteristics of hope exhibit innovative work behaviour. The study also extends on the theory of hope by revealing that agency and pathways influence innovative work behaviour.Enhancing innovative work behaviour in higher institutions of learning: the role of hope

The paper is derived from a research experience between 2010 and 2018. That experience comes from three source sets: Management Development Program for Design Firms from the Research Line of Management Design, Department of Civil Construction Engineering, University of São Paulo in Brazil; papers including a doctoral thesis; and literature review. Revisiting and investigating processes were conducted by research questions, resulting in lessons learned, management difficulties and guidelines. The guidelines were drawn up from a strategic sphere, understanding internal and external factors to the firm, diagnosis of the firm's management and sustainability, a building sustainability plan, implications of the plan for management processes, plan monitoring and control and plan evaluation. The studies were mostly conducted in Brazil, and one of them in the USA. Other studies could be carried out in other countries comparing findings or implementing the guidelines. The findings will provide feedback to Management Development Program for Design Firms (PDGEP) in the action research method. Moreover, the knowledge about firm's capabilities can advance understanding of architectural and engineering (AE) design firm management as support for sustainability, performance and building information modeling (BIM). As social media marketing also has an enormous positive impact on green product buying behavior, this study aims to provide a cohesive role of green marketing and social media marketing in determining green purchase behavior. In this study, data were collected through an online survey by using convenience sampling from 692 respondents, and through structural equation modeling, the hypothesized associations among variables of this study were empirically tested. The findings suggest that attitude, eco-labels and green advertising had a significant influence on the decision to purchase green products. The influence of peer groups, behavioral intention and price consciousness was also examined. Peer influence did not moderate the relation between green buying behavior and environmental concern. The influence of factors like attitudes, price consciousness, behavioral intentions social media marketing, eco-labels, and environmental concern green purchase behavior has not been scrutinized cohesively in the past. This paper also takes into account the effects of industry level determinants that can influence the relationship between entrepreneurs’ personal network usage and young firms’ performance. The paper employs confirmatory factor analysis and moderated hierarchical multiple regressions on a sample of 246 young firms in Kuwait. The results indicate that entrepreneurs' personal network usage is positively associated with young firms' performance. The results also reveal that industry dynamism strengthens this relationship, while in hostile industries the relationship between network usage and young firms' performance becomes weaker. The present study provides insights into how the extent of utilization of an entrepreneur's personal network affects the firm's performance. Furthermore, by unpacking how industry dynamism and industry hostility influence the entrepreneurs' ability to reap benefits from their personal networks, this paper enriches the research on the role of industry factors in the performance of young firms.Entrepreneurs' personal network usage and the performance of young firms: evidence from an emerging market

The purpose of this paper is to examine the antecedents of university identification, namely, university brand knowledge, university brand personality and university identity. Furthermore, consequences of university identification, such as advocacy intentions, suggestion for improvements, university affiliation and strength of attachment, are examined. A quantitative research design was used, collecting data from students in private and government universities in Jordan. Structural equation modeling using SmartPLS 2.0 is employed to test the proposed research hypotheses. The results revealed that all the antecedents and consequences suggested in the research model have positive significant relationships with university identification in the Jordanian higher education sector. University identification has been less precisely conceptualized and empirically tested in the higher education context in developing countries. The results improve our understanding of the antecedents and consequences of university identification for students in higher education. The purpose of this literature review is to determine the direction of research in the field of sustainable entrepreneurship. It also enables the author to find out the relevance with similar terminologies, i.e. green entrepreneurship, ecopreneurship, ecological entrepreneuship etc. Also, how various differentiating concepts under the guise of sustainable entrepreneurship contribute to the similar goals on organizational level. Scopus and Web of Science databases are explored for research articles including term “sustainable entrepreneurship”. A list of 50 most cited articles is extracted from the results and analyzed for underlying themes and trends in current research. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) standard is used to systematically search articles from two databases and filtering for the most relevant manuscripts. The categorization of research articles is conducted to understand the direction of research in this field and the emphasis on specific aspects. Themes identified are further elaborated into subcategories to get to the underlying theme of the research article. The research trend implicates the shift toward practical application and evaluation along with conceptual exploration and analysis which is inherent in any field of research. The mediating role of organizational innovation on the impact of strategic agility on firm performancehttps://www.emerald.com/insight/content/doi/10.1108/WJEMSD-06-2020-0070/full/html?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=rss_journalLatestThe field of strategic management mainly concerns with the achievement and sustainability of competitive advantage since the sustainability of strategic competitive advantage is more challenging. The concept of innovation can also be regarded as a to respond continuously changing environmental conditions and to sustain firm profits. The aim of this paper is to examine the mediating role of organizational innovation for the impact of strategic agility on firm performance and to determine the relationship among variables. Although there is a significant amount of work on organizational innovation, literature is still lacking in the debate on strategic agility and firm performance. An online questionnaire was administered to 216 firms operating in the Sakarya Organized Industrial Zone (Marmara Region of Turkey) during September–December 2019 and the data were analyzed using structural equation analysis for hypothesis testing. Results reveal that strategic agility has a positive impact on both firm performance (ß = 0.895) and organizational innovation (ß = 0.854), and organizational innovation (ß = 0.485) plays a partial mediating role on this relationship. World Journal of Entrepreneurship, Management and Sustainable Development, Vol. 17, No. 4, pp.765-786

The field of strategic management mainly concerns with the achievement and sustainability of competitive advantage since the sustainability of strategic competitive advantage is more challenging.

The results of this study improve our understanding of how these factors affect firm performance in the organized industrial zone.

This study will evaluate the relationship between these factors and intrapreneurship. It will also provide a significant contribution in understanding what it takes to be among India's best companies. This study incorporates a quantitative approach where the data has been collected through the “Great Place to Work” Institute's list of top companies in India to work for. The final sample included 109 employees from 50 companies. Correlation and regression analyses are used for data analysis. The results indicated that there is a positive and significant effect of the environment and organizational factors on intrapreneurship. Within the individual factors, management support in organizational factors and technological opportunities present in the market (environmental factors) are perceived as the most important factors for intrapreneurial activities. Additionally, “self-renewal activities” are considered as an important intrapreneurial activity for the respondents. The results can serve as a good source of information for improving the marketing of regional agricultural products. This study recommends that regional producers and marketers brand regional products with the region's name to capitalise on consumers' ethnocentric tendencies in the region. Further, regional products have to be sold in places where consumers with a certain degree of ethnocentrism are present. Results provided by this study are commonly applicable for all products, regardless of the type and regional origin, so that product-specific studies are no longer necessary, which reduces redundancy and marketing research costs, which are difficult to bear for small producers. Germany has benefited immensely from the boom of regional marketing in Europe. Likewise, in Southwestern Germany, there is a growing interest in the production and marketing of regional products. As a result, several studies have investigated the factors influencing the purchasing of regional products in Germany. Predicting start-up intention among the females of Saudi Arabia using social cognitive theoryhttps://www.emerald.com/insight/content/doi/10.1108/WJEMSD-05-2021-0085/full/html?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=rss_journalLatestThe purpose of this paper is to explore the start-up intention among the female population in Saudi Arabia using the social cognitive theory (SCT). This paper is based on the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor nationwide survey of 1,835 adult females in 2017. This is one of the most comprehensive surveys for assessing the start-up climate across the globe including Saudi Arabia. The data have been analyzed using simple techniques such as chi-square statistics, correlation, and logistics regression. The factors affecting start-up intentions have been identified using the social cognitive theory (SCT). Out of 1,835 adult females surveyed under Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, 568 of them have reported start-up intention, i.e. 31.9 percent. The profile of females with and without start-up intention has been mapped in terms of age, family size, working status, education level, region, and citizenship to understand the potential group. The results of the correlation coefficient indicated a significant and positive relationship between start-up intention (SI) among females and self-efficacy (SE), career choice (CC), employment generation (EG), and social welfare (SW). The regression estimates proved that both the constructs, i.e. self-efficacy beliefs and outcome expectations of the social cognitive model are positive and significant. The result of this paper provides empirically meticulous evidence for understanding the start-up intention of females in Saudi Arabia based on the social cognitive theory. This study provides a key strategy for changing the start-up ecosystem for females in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. By focusing on the required knowledge, skill, and experience among females belonging to young, small family size, not-working and having higher family income may provide better start-up intention for all those who are willing to venture into a new business as a career choice, have the intention to create jobs and wish to solve social problems.
