Abstract

Purpose

This guest editorial aims to discuss the relationship between Library Hi Tech and Library Hi Tech News.

Design/methodology/approach

The editorial looks at how the News distinguishes itself in a time of instant publication via blogs.

Findings

The News offers a wealth of important and often overlooked topics, including ones such as the technology interests of library leaders, avoiding the worst from filtering software, and privacy issues with server‐based editing software such as Google Documents.

Originality/value

The editorial offers topics on which others could and should write.
