which appeared in British Food Journal, Vol. 103 No. 9, 2001

Nigel Grigg is a Senior Lecturer in Operations Management with the Division of Management, Glasgow Caledonian University. His research interests include quality management and control systems, in particular statistical methods of process control and improvement. He is currently completing his doctorate with the University of Strathclyde on the subject of process control and improvement practices in the food industry.

Catherine McAlinden has been a Lecturer for three years and is in the Division of Marketing, Glasgow Caledonian University. Teaching responsibilities include quality management, food product development, and marketing. Catherine previously spent ten years working in the food industry in product development, quality assurance and technical management, and completed an MSc in Marketing at the University of Strathclyde in 2001. Current research interests include quality management, corporate social responsibility in the food industry and food marketing.
