Rapid dispersing rheological additives to simplify paint manufacture

Abstract

A new rapidly dispersing organoclay thickener, which is said to offer cost savings to paint manufacturers, is being launched world‐wide by NL Chemicals. The new organoclay — Bentone SD‐1 — is claimed to represent a significant breakthrough in rheological additive technology, and will greatly simplify the manufacturing process of solvent‐based paints, speeding up throughput, achieving more flexible and trouble‐free production whilst maintaining product quality.
