Who wants to be a chemical engineer?

Who wants to be a chemical engineer? Keywords: Engineering, Industry, Teachers

The Institution of Chemical Engineers has developed a two-day course to give chemistry, physics and mathematics teachers teaching GCSE and A-level students first-hand experience of the work of chemical engineers. The teachers work as chemical engineers, interacting with industrialists and academics. This makes the teachers better equipped to respond to student inquiries and inform them about what a degree and career in chemical engineering entail. The course highlights how chemical engineers develop the products we rely upon daily, push back the boundaries of scientific discovery and find solutions to some of the most pressing problems facing society. The teachers are also given classroom materials and a CD-ROM of supporting information, information on departments offering chemical engineering undergraduate courses and details of sponsoring organizations.
