Canadian labour productivity continues to fall, as employers cut output faster than they fired workers.
In the last quarter of 2008, gross domestic product of businesses fell 1.3 percent in the quarter while hours worked declined 0.8 percent, Statistics Canada said. Then in the first quarter of 2009, employers shed 216,000 workers following 81,400 job losses during the 2008 Q4.
