Meals on wheels

The Women's Royal Voluntary Service works in partnership with local authorities serving around ten million meals on wheels a year. WRVS provides a comprehensive quality service from the delivery of food to the management of the whole meals package. A new scheme is the delivery of ready prepared frozen meals that can be reheated at a time to suit the individual. Freezers and microwave ovens can be provided to customers who require them. Meals are delivered every two weeks from an extensive menu choice which can cater for a variety of dietary needs. The meals service is available to anyone and in addition to traditional dishes, meals such as curry, chilli and pasta are offered and special diets and dishes for recognised cultural and religious needs. With nearly 100,000 volunteers the WRVS is one of the largest and most active voluntary organisations in the country.
