Plascoat Systems believes that manufacturers and coaters of external welded wire work from fencing to fan guards now have a specialist coating option in the form of its Plascoat WireGuard 10.

A powder-based system featuring a blend of polyolefins, it reportedly requires no primer when applied to cleaned metal, yet claims excellent and lasting adhesion and a range of performance benefits over traditional wire coatings.

The coating is said to have excellent performance in terms of salt spray resistance, water absorption and flexibility, particularly in low temperatures. The product has also been developed to offer UV resistance to PVC.

It is thought that the forgiving nature claimed of WireGuard 10 allows reject rates to be cut, while providing a quality, attractive, pin-hole-free finish in a range of standard colours. A process time, when dip coated, is claimed of just 4-7 minutes.

According to Plascoat, the reductions on process time, energy savings, lower material density, good thickness control and the absence of the need for a primer, together mean that this product is highly cost competitive.
