Multiple ink choices for multiple print heads

Keywords Marconi Data Systems, Printing, Inks

The potential of the Marconi Data Systems (MDS) PrintPro ES array printer to run up to four print heads from a single controller system is now thought to be maximised with the availability of new ink colours. In addition to MDS's range of black inks and one MEK-based red formulation, three new colours have been introduced. They are 16-41SR red, 16-43SR green and 16-44SR blue. The primary application for these new inks is coated and uncoated paper.

All are stated to be free from MEK and methanol. A combination of ethanol and acetone reportedly provides fast dry times - 1-3 seconds - without the odour of MEK inks or the higher make-up consumption of acetone inks.

In addition, the three inks are said to be completely compatible allowing customers to change from one colour to another in the same printhead with no part changes or head setups. A further benefit claimed of this compatibility is that it allows customers to blend inks to create their own unique colours.

According to MDS the abilities of its PrintPro ES system combined with the availability of the new colours will allow creative customers to print many colours in one run with minimal job set-up costs. The new inks are also reported to be suitable for operations in the MDS Sr range of array printers.
