Investment in micronisation technology

Powder processing specialist British Rema Ltd reports that it has made a significant investment in new micronisation equipment to further enhance its contract processing facilities for fine powders.

The company, which has a dedicated processing plant in Chesterfield, UK, and a number of major contracts in the aerospace, chemicals and minerals sectors, expects the investment will strengthen its business further into industries which require the precise processing of very fine powders.

Managing Director Chris Bird said: “in an ever competitive marketplace, manufacturers require the most precise grades of particle to ensure a high quality end-product. The technology available through this impressive new micronisation equipment provides the optimum particulate distribution throughout a material, giving the customer an end- product with the highest possible performance”.

The new micronisation technology will form part of its toll processing system, which has grown significantly over the past 12 months, due to health and safety legislation making it difficult for many companies to continue processing powders in the same way in their own facilities.

Regulations governing emissions and pollution control have, therefore, meant that many manufacturers have turned to sub-contracting their professional powder processing to outside specialists, such as British Rema.

The benefits being that they do not need to invest in upgrading their existing machinery or buying new equipment which is compliant with the new legislation.

British Rema has been carrying out contract processing for over 10 years, much of the company’s business is for specialist processing applications and short runs of product.
