Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to describe the document supply services of the Russian State Library.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper is descriptive in nature.
Findings
After the hiatus of the 1990s the document supply service has recovered and is developing new electronic services. Resource sharing is also growing.
Originality/value
The paper provides a historical and contemporary overview of the development of document supply in Russia and the Soviet Union.
